Beatrice and Edoardo shared their daughter’s name with the public almost two weeks after her birth. The Queen’s granddaughter took to Twitter and wrote on her official account: “We are delighted to share that we have named our daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi.”
The name chosen for their first daughter together seems to pay homage to the legacy of Edoardo and Beatrice.
Sienna’s first name comes from the city of Siena, Tuscany, and is a direct link to her father’s Italian roots.
It seems that Beatrice and Edoardo took inspiration from Harry and Meghan’s book when paying homage to Queen Elizabeth II.
The baby’s second name is a clear reminder of her connection to the royal family and pays homage to the Queen.
Last June, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
She was named after the family nickname of the Queen and also Harry‘s mother, Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997.
Announcing the birth of their daughter, Harry and Meghan said in a statement: “It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet” Lili “Diana Mountbatten- Windsor, in the world.
“Lili was born Friday, June 4 at 11:40 am under the trusted care of doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California.

“The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special family time.”
However, Harry and Meghan faced backlash after reports claimed the couple did not seek permission from the Queen to use their daughter’s name.
In June, the couple launched a legal battle against the BBC over the reporting.

The statement read: “The Duke spoke with his family before the announcement, in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called.
“During this conversation, he shared their hope to name their daughter Lilibet in her honor.
“If she hadn’t argued, they wouldn’t have used the name.”
Beatrice’s daughter is the fourth baby to be born in 2021 with two of her cousins and sister welcoming new children this year.
Eugenie’s son August Philip Brooksbank was the first unborn baby to the royal family in 2021.
It was named after the late Duke of Edinburgh in a touching tribute.
Zara Tindall was the second royal to give birth in March, welcoming a son named Lucas.
Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the daughter and second child of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was born on June 4.
