GM hires Nio and Lyft executives; Stellantis debauchery Amazon VP
Ned Curic, vice president of Amazon Alexa Automotive, will be part of Stellantis as director of expertise on August 30.
Automakers General Motors and Stellantis have hired executives from a number of specialist companies, including Amazon and Lyft, as industries compete for top skills.
Automakers announced the hires on Tuesday, marking the most recent sphere of expertise exchanges between the automotive and expertise sectors as the sectors converge with the emergence of connected, autonomous and electric automobiles.
GM is including 4 new executives in its industrial supply and logistics business BrightDrop EV, which the company introduced in January. The new hires are effective instantly, in response to GM:
- Anthony Armenta, former vice president of engineering at Postmates, will likely be the lead expert.
- Rachad Youssef, former vice president of software product administration at Chinese electric car start-up Nio, will likely be product director.
- Shaluinn Fullove, previously Lyft’s Global People Manager for Autonomous Expertise and Ridesharing Platforms, will join as Managing Director.
- Steve Hornyak, previously Chief Industrial Officer at Fabric, will become Chief Income Officer.
Stellantis, formerly Fiat Chrysler, said they employed Ned Curic, Amazon vice president of Alexa Automotive, as the first director of expertise because the company was created by the merger of Fiat Chrysler and the automaker. French automobile PSA Groupe in January.
“Ned is joining us at the perfect time to shape Stellantis in the context of unprecedented change in our industry,” Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said in a press release.
Curic, who previously worked at Toyota Motor and Microsoft, will debut at Stellantis on August 30.
The automotive and appraisal industries are increasingly fighting for expertise with the emergence of automobiles and related companies on either side researching and developing self-driving automobiles. Auto start-ups equivalent to Lucid and Rivian are also competing for leading expertise in each sector.
Tech companies have been profitable lately. Ford Motor lost its expertise director earlier this month to Amazon, as well as two advertising and marketing directors to Google and Facebook in 2020. GM also lost CFO Dhivya Suryadevara to digital fund company Stripe. Prior to that, Alicia Boler Davis – who ran GM’s global manufacturing – left for Amazon.
General Motors plans to launch an all-new all-electric van known as the EV600 by the end of the year. The first 500 cars will likely be donated to FedEx.
